France-Kazakhstan: French companies within the starting blocks.

Numerous companies got together at Medef (France) on October 25 as the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Kairat Kelimbetov, came to  attend the closed-door France-Kazakhstan Business Council. This two-hour meeting was seemingly the opportunity to exchange, among other things, on two important topics: the implementation of legislation governing public-private partnerships and the issue of economic integration (Customs Union with Russia and Belarus, as well as the Kazakhstan’s application to the WTO). The issue of PPPs is all the more topical as Kazakhstan sure hopes to win Expo 2017 (it is competing with the city of Liège) and intends to make the most of this opportunity  to attract companies ready to invest in the development of infrastructure built for the occasion. On the French side the fortunate participants are: consulting and/or engineering companies Ad’missions, CIFAL, DV Board, Horsain, Swing Consulting, Tractebel Engineering ; building and civil engineering companies Bouygues, Vinci, Vicat ; energy companies Areva, EDF, GDF Suez, Total ; aeronautics players EADS, Eurocopter, Safran, Thales ; telecommunications players Eutelstat and Orange; logistics and transportation companies BBL Transport and Gefco ; banks BNP Paribas, Natixis, Rothschild ; food processing company Lactalis and pharmaceutical company Sanofi ; and finally catering company International Catering Services.
